Year 6 students visited the Teleios factory, renowned as the world's largest producer of racing simulators. During the visit, the students had the unique opportunity to explore the facility and engage with state-of-the-art racing simulators. This first-hand experience sparked their curiosity and fostered creativity, encouraging them to think critically and apply their knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, Creativity, and Mathematics. Additionally, the students had a hands-on experience with simulator cars, enhancing their understanding and connection to the practical aspects of the technology.
International Day for Tolerance was observed and celebrated by Year 6. The information about the formation and purpose of the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance by UNESCO member states was shared in a presentation. The activity was informative and interesting for students. Students also expressed their views on the significance of being tolerant and how it leads to international peace and harmony.
Students of Year 6 participated in an enlightening registration time session focusing on the awareness of diabetes, types of diabetes and eating a varied and balanced diet. The session enlightened the students on how people can live with Diabetes Type 1 and plan healthy food menu for diabetic patients. Key take away from the morning session was that maintaining good health is essential for our emotional, psychological and social well-being. The session concluded with an activity for students to prepare a diet plan or menu for a day for diabetic patients or to create a snack menu for the school canteen for diabetic students to assess their understanding of the topics discussed.
The Year-6 sports day proved to be a triumphant occasion, skilfully orchestrated by the Winchester Physical Education department. Students were engaged in a variety of activities that extended beyond traditional sports. The inclusion of unconventional challenges not only added an element of surprise but also catered to a range of interests and abilities, ensuring that every participant felt a sense of belonging and accomplishment. Year 6 students were ecstatic to take part in the events like 100-meter race, Sack race, shooting the target, Hurdle race, Obstacle race and Relay race etc. What truly elevated the experience was the active involvement of parents who graced the event with their presence. The cheers and encouragement from the side-lines created an electric atmosphere, motivating the young athletes to push their limits. It was more than a day of games; it was a celebration of community, a demonstration of teamwork, and a canvas for the vibrant tapestry of personal and social growth.
Students of Year 6 celebrated the flag day with great enthusiasm and paid homage to the flag. The flag day serves as an occasion to celebrate the UAE's national identity and heritage, emphasizing the significance of the national flag as a symbol of the country's unity and aspirations. Students explored the significance of the colours in the UAE flag and had a group discussion about the importance of Flag Day. The day was marked by creating posters emphasizing the importance of flag day.Feelings of wellbeing are fundamental for the overall health of a student, enabling them to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve what they want out of life. It encourages the development of children to become responsible citizens. Student leaders of year 6 conducted an assembly on ‘Empowering Wellbeing’ to highlight the importance of mental and physical health. They conducted a small skit followed by sharing essential tips to enhance wellbeing. The school choir performed a beautiful song on Wellbeing.
The United Nations-declared World Space Week, celebrated annually from October 4-10, witnesses thousands of organizations across the globe uniting to commemorate the contributions and advancements of space exploration. The previous year, WSW saw a record-breaking participation with more than 11,200 reported events across 87 nations.
Students of Year 6 Projected that mental health is not just an individual concern but a collective responsibility through a skit. It is a day to unite, educate, and raise awareness about critical issues surrounding mental health. A parent Mr. Iftikaar Hussein also shared his thoughts through a video message and insisted on the importance of mental health.
Students of Year 6 attended an online session on ‘Respiratory Etiquette’ orchestrated by Dr. Mozhgan. The session highlighted primacy and benefits of a simple yet effective way to prevent illness: a healthy lifestyle, healthy diet and consistent physical activity. It enlightened our students that a high level of standard infection control precautions to staff and students, and good respiratory etiquette to both staff and residents can help prevent the spread of respiratory infection.
